~ Missha M Perfect Cover BB Cream #21 ~ REVIEW ~

Hello~ I'm back with another review.  Today I'll be reviewing the Missha Perfect Cover BB cream in #21.

This is one of the most popular bb creams out there. There were a lot of people raving about this bb cream, and I wanted to try it out myself. I got mine from a seller on an online dutch marketplace, and I got 50 ml for  €17,50. You can get this from eBay here. I know that there are a lot of fake ones on eBay, but a lot of youtubers got their bb cream from this seller, and it was definitely not fake and they were very satisfied. And this seller also ships for free worldwide (: Of course you can get it from the official Missha site here, but you do have to pay $29,99 for it there (you can also get the 20 ml size for $12,99 here (only available in 2 shades)).

Now just a little background information on bb creams:

Blemish Balm Cream (or Beblesh Balm), most of the time called bb cream, is one of the best selling beautyproducts in Asia. This cream was developed in Germany and was initially used by dermatologics for the very sensitive skin of patients, who had undergone laser surgery, because of its characteristic soothing and skin-regenerating properties. Famous South Korean actresses then started using it for beauty purposes and since korean dramas and hallyu are huge, a craze was born.
Korean cosmetic companies got aware of this and thus developed their own formulas to make it availabe for a larger audience. The trend that started in Korea first spread to Japan then to South East Asia and has now quickly made its way to Europe and the USA.

BB cream is a multi-purpose product since most of the bb creams have multiple benefits to them, like whitening and anti-wrinkle properties, high spf, moisturizing and acting as a makeup base. I do want to point out that whitening doesn't mean it's actually going to "whiten" your skin. The whitening ingredient in most bb creams is called Arbutin, which is known for preventing the formation of melanin and is therefore used as a skin-lightening agent. But because the amount of Arbutin isn't very big in bb creams, it won't do anything drastic. It will most likely even out your complexion, by fading acne scarring, freckles etc. And even this won't happen instantly and will take some time.

I was really exited to try out this product because of the raves about this. But I was also afraid that the mineral oil that it contains, would break me out, like it did for a lot of other people. Again, like I did for the SKIN79 bb cream, I did a lot of research (Youtube, blogs, MakeupAlley) before I got this.

Just like the SKIN79 bb cream, this has 3 properties: whitening, wrinkle improvement and sun protection. I didn't notice any improvement in terms of whitening & wrinkles (lol, I don't have them anyways), but I was really impressed with the high SPF it contains; spf 42 PA+++ . So this is perfect for summertime, since it will protect you skin from harmful UV rays.

Here you can see 3 of the colours

The colour of this is not a perfect match with my skintone, it's a little too dark. The Perfect Cover bb cream comes in 5 shades (which is a lot compared to other bb creams), the lightest one in this range is #13 Milky Beige and the darkest is #31 Golden Beige. Mine is in #21 Light Beige, but the #13 will probably match perfectly with my skin, so I guess I'll get that one soon. In terms of oil control, this isn't very good with that. But since I mix it with a foundation that controls oil pretty well, I'm not really bothered. People with oily skin might have some problems with it though..

What the packaging says.

(I got this from the official Missha site)
Here are my ratings for this product:

PRICE 4/5= I didn't get this for the most reasonable price, but it's still worth it because it contains a lot of product (50 ml). If I'm going to repurchase this,  I will get it from eBay, since I do know a good seller and it's just much cheaper that way.

PACKAGING 5/5= I love the packaging! It has a very luxurious feel to it. And the best part is of course is the pump/squeezy tube combination (the packaging for the smaller one (20 ml) is just a squeezy tube without the pump). This makes it easy to get every single drop of product out, without the messiness that regular squeezy tubes come with. And it's great to travel with, since it has a cap as well.

Nice hygienic pump with cap
CONSISTENCY 5/5= I find that this is a little less thick than the SKIN79 one (I'm sorry, but I keep comparing those two ><) and a little easier to blend.
This can feel pretty heavy on the skin, especially if you put on more than 2 layers.

FINISH 4/5= When you first blend it in to your skin, it can look pretty dewy. But after oxidizing it looks almost completely matt, with some dewyness on my nosebridge & cheekbones, which is exactly where I want the dewyness to be. But this really depends on your skintype (mine is normal/combo). Btw. it does say that this is in light beige, but this does have a slight pink/grey cast to it, so beware.. And the grey cast goes away after 15 minutes or so, but this might not be the same with you.

COVERAGE 5/5= The coverage is amazing! Not full coverage though, but you can build it to a medium/full coverage. It covers most of my scars and all of my freckles. The coverage of this product was also my main reason for getting this.

SCENT 4/5= A lot of people didn't like this bb cream because of it's heavy scent, but I love it! It did overwhelm me at first, but then I grew to actually liking it (: It has a really nice flowery scent that kind of reminds me of baby powder (?). It does have a sunscreen smell to it like most bb creams with spf do, but it doesn't really bother me. But people who don't like heavy scents are not going to like this.

APPLICATION: I use this after my daily skincare routine and I apply this with my fingers, and I think that that's just the best way to apply bb cream. I use about 1 full pump and mix it with about half a pump of my Catrice Infinite Matt foundation.

BUY AGIAN: NOT SURE= This is my absolute favourite bb cream, BUT it breaks me out.. Yes, it's horrible. I finally found my HG bb cream/foundation and it breaks me out, because of the mineral oil it contains.. JUST WHY ;n;... But let me just tell you what happened.

I got this probably mid January and used it for about a week. I was really happy because it didn't break me out (yet). But then after a week of use, I got this really big pimple on my cheek, and I knew that it was because of the bb cream because I kept using it for another 2 days and didn't see any improvement in the break out, so I stopped using it. After a week the break out was gone, and meanwhile I've been using the SKIN79 bb cream again. Because I loved my Missha bb cream so much, I decided to give it another chance. I used it for about 2 weeks without getting any breakouts. But then, after 2 weeks, I got another big pimple, this time on my forehead. So again I stopped using it and right now I'm using my SKIN79 bb cream again.
I think I might give it another chance, but this time I will try to prevent breaking out by using a smaller amount of product, and not using it 7 days a week.

To people who have very sensitive skin I would say, stay away from this  because it contains mineral oil which is pretty high on the ingredients list (#6). People who have used this, liked it and didn't break out from this are very lucky. So if you want to try this bb cream out, just go for it. Everyone has a different skintype, and this bb cream might work for you.

Now on to the swatches, all photos are taken in daylight, in front of a window:

After blending; it does have a visible gray cast, but it goes away after oxidizing.

This was another really long review, but I hope this was helpful and that I could give you enough information to form your own opinion on this bb cream.

Have a nice day & take care ^^

  4. Lovely review :) Very impressed by how detailed and indepth it is :) Will be following for more. I have a lot of problems with oxidisation on my skin but I'm hoping the grey cast will help balance that out and keep my skin from looking too cheese-puffy! Lovely blog - Squishy pandas are adorable ♥
